Thinking of getting a pellet grill and was wondering if any body had any experience with them?

I think you might want to look into the Sam's version of the big green egg. Way more versatile and you can use real charcoal. I paid $600 for mine, literally half of what a big green egg is and have used it LOTS. Smoking pork butts takes some time but its a great grill and a smoker.

My brother got the Komodo Joe and Loves it.
On the other had, if you go for a stainless grill around here, charcoal or gas, Only get the better grade stainless. Perhaps not 316 grade but, certainly one that is the least magnetic. A lot of the cheaper, more budget appealing, ones are pretty crappy "stainless" and will rust pretty good in our salt spry. ------------------------- Dora Hates You |

I decided I'm going to try something different. I'm going to repair and modify my old propane grill and integrate a gas hot water heater thermostat and pilot light to regulate temperature. It of course won't support grilling/searing, but I don't see any reason why it won't be able to slow roast and smoke. A thermostat bypass line and some valving will be needed for grilling/searing. Anybody see a down side to it?
