The fix is in. The Prosecutors have proven their case, the jury has convicted him and he was set for sentencing. Then Trump sent Barr to "revise" the DOJ's position, completely back off of their original recommendation and "take charge" of the sentencing. The prosecutors who tried the case removed their names and themselves from the case in protest and now it appears that the entire matter will be within the presiding Judge's discretion despite the new and improved sentencing recommendation from Barr. This is rank, naked corruption all the while Trump tweets out about it in real time saying that the real criminals got away with their crimes and poor rat fucker Stone is being treated far too harshly. Its a giant whataboutism from Trump, who believes everyone is criminal and the only reason people ever get prosecuted is because they have bad politics.

I'm no fan of Roger Stone but if you are going to put him away for 9 years, when he has no prior record, for lying, then everyone needs to be held to the same standard. If that is the standards we are holding people to then Bill Clinton, Comey, and McCabe are just a few of the people who need to be locked up. You can't just give someone an insanely heavy-handed sentence because you have a throbbing hard-on for Trump and anyone he is associated with, if you aren't ready to hold everyone to the same standard.

He was found guilty of witness tampering and obstruction, in addition to five instances of lying to Congress.

Two problems with this scenario:

1. DOJ Inspector General
2. The judge

Please list the crimes they were tried and convicted of? Ok rhetorical question. Just list the crimes and or misdemeanors they were indicted on?

What no? Why didn't you list Mrs Clinton? Or is it what you trump dick suckers say: Fuck Law and Order.

The "lock her up crowd" didn't seem to care that Hillary was never charged with a crime, presumed innocent and didn't invoke her right to remain silent. Stone has been found guilty of lying to Congress and witness tampering. The judge might agree the rat fucker should do less than 9 years but maybe not. He's thumbed his nose at the process the entire time until the end, when he went from arrogant above the law asshole to begging little bitch as the theatrics and antics failed him.

They followed the established sentencing guidelines. If this was Rosie O'Donnell, you wouldn't say beep.

There once was a time when lying to the government mattered. Hell, there once was a time when the Constitution mattered.

Did they follow the sentencing guidelines with McCabe?

Oh wait...they didn't charge his ass for LYING TO CONGRESS!

Why exactly is that?!?!

They charged Flynn with lying for a plea deal, a reduced crime. He was up against other more serious charges and got the plea deal in return. This is why he will still go to jail no matter whAt anyone says, even Barr. His goose is cooked.

Barr is creating drama to cover corruption. Even his statement is acknowledgement that he cannot undercut his staff for political reasons if trump brings attention to it. Barr is the legal means to trumps baser instincts.

Trump was looking for corruption in Ukraine. Republicans believe that. Now he corrupts the AG. Republicans are burying their heads in trumps lap and thinking he learned a lesson.

Barr's statement that trump, whom he never spoke to about the stone sentencing, wasn't telling trump to stay out of DOJ affairs, he was telling him that he already put the fox in and so trump should shut up not draw attention. Barr makes trump the dictator. Remember everyone else used to ignore his tirade orders or quit? Not Barr.

Pardons do not expunge one's record. They are still criminals. A pardon also means they accept that they are guilty of the crime and they will still be under probation afterward. I like a pardon though, it confirms they are a criminal. However, these sleaze bags deserve to do hard time like anyone else would.

Looks like our resident legal genius overlooked Ex Parte Garland, in which the Supreme Court said the opposite. Looking up the law on Wikipedia is not a good idea.

Tpap just winging it again. The Supreme court has ruled various times since that a pardon is an acceptance of guilt.

Burdick v. United States, 236 U.S. 79 (1915), was a case in which the Supreme Court of the United States held that: A pardoned person must introduce the pardon into court proceedings, otherwise the pardon must be disregarded by the court. To do this, the pardoned person must accept the pardon.

In a 5-4 vote, the Supreme Court ruled that the law was a bill of attainder and an ex post facto law. The court also ruled that the president can exercise the pardon power at any time after the commission of the crime, and that Garland was beyond the reach of punishment of any kind because of his prior presidential pardon.[1]
The court also stated that counselors are officers of the court, not officers of the United States, and that their removal was an exercise of judicial power, not legislative power. The law was struck down as unconstitutional, which opened the way for former Confederate government officials to return to positions in the federal judiciary.

From the DOJ:

https://www.justice.gov/pardon/frequently-asked-questions

Does a presidential pardon expunge or erase the conviction for which the pardon was granted?
No. Expungement is a judicial remedy that is rarely granted by the court and cannot be granted within the Department of Justice or by the President. Please also be aware that if you were to be granted a presidential pardon, the pardoned offense would not be removed from your criminal record. Instead, both the federal conviction as well as the pardon would both appear on your record. However, a pardon will facilitate removal of legal disabilities imposed because of the conviction, and should lessen to some extent the stigma arising from the conviction. In addition, a pardon may be helpful in obtaining licenses, bonding, or employment. If you are seeking expungement of a federal offense, please contact the court of conviction. If you are seeking expungement of a state conviction, which the Office of the Pardon Attorney also does not have authority to handle, states have different procedures for "expunging" a conviction or "clearing" the record of a criminal conviction. To pursue relief of a state conviction, you should contact the Governor or state Attorney General in the state in which you were convicted for assistance.

Take my advice fishpap. Quit being morons and stop spreading your false BS on this site.

Where exactly was I disagreeing with you?

I clearly stated that a pardon was probably coming.

What I also posted referred to a case where a pardon was REFUSED!

Do you know how to READ?!?!

..and another one goes down. And rightly so.

"He was not prosecuted for standing up for the president," she said. "He was prosecuted for covering up for the president."

She laced into the defense offered by Stone's attorneys in response to his conviction on charges that he lied to congressional investigators and attempted to block the testimony of a witness, which she said amounted to: "'So what?'"

"Of all the circumstances in this case, that may be the most pernicious," Jackson said, in comments that quickly traveled far beyond the E Barrett Prettyman courthouse in Washington. "The truth still exists, the truth still matters."

"Roger Stone's insistence that it doesn't ... his belligerence, his pride in his own lies, are a threat to our most fundamental institutions, to the very foundation of our democracy," she said emphatically.

"There was nothing unfair, phony, or disgraceful about the investigation or the prosecution," she said
.

Three years of prison for an old rich man that's used to getting his way?

I'm good with that.

The political damage when Trump gives him a pardon?

I'm good with that too.
