I donno, that part of the country is home to some serious big game such as mule deer, elk, pronghorn, bison, mountain goat, and desert and Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep.
Using a basic hunting rifle in a hunting caliber taking that game at ranges of 200+ yards is pretty common. Honestly a 200 yard shot on target even with elevation differences, etc. isn't outside the skill of an average hunter in that area.

What is more impressive is that this person had an escape and evade plan that seems to have worked.

We really don't know what the motives of the killing are.
Proclaiming that it is a political assassination and it was done by people who don't agree with Kirk is premature. It may turn out to be correct, but pros don't speculate.

Many on the right are proclaiming that this is because people are calling them fascists, authoritarians, Nazis, etc. Well, if you don't want to be called those names don't embrace those ideas or actions, don't spread conspiracy theories, don't tear down our democracy.

Trump is acting an authoritarian, his actions speak to that. He tries to rule by fiat.

It took about seven shots to get my rifle sighted in the last time I went shooting, and I'm always careful when returning it to the case. No bonks. No bumps. No bangs. No nothing. I have a modest collection of old Mausers and the nicest is a Swedish M96 from 1915. It's damn accurate but those little iron sights are tough to use beyond 100 yards for my eyes.

They are now circulating pics of a person of interest.
Supposedly the photos were taken about 30 minutes before the shooting and shows a young man with a typical school backpack.

One of the talking heads was saying how loaded that backpack looked and how easy it would be to break down a rifle and have it in that back pack.

If the rifle used to kill Kirk was a mauser action rifle, it is extremely improbable that it could be taken down and put into a school size backpack. Those actions require real gunsmithing to remove/replace the barrel, and separating a barreled action from the stock would render the zero of the rifle very suspect for a distance shot...and even a stock or barreled action would be about about 2.5 feet long and then you have to contend with a sensitive optic.

So, I'm wondering if that is indeed the shooter where did he stash the rifle?

There is also a time incongruity as the video of the suspected person on the rooftop was taken before the vid of the kid with the backpack going up the stairs.

The shocking footage certainly made me sympathetic to him and his family. No one deserves to be murdered, especially in front of the their family. But here was the moment that I think the right just got. They have never seen footage of school shootings and children running through puddles of blood as they track it. They have never watched the horror of gun violence at school and they have accepted it because they didn't have to see it. Charlie Kirk could wad philosophic about shootings being the bargain we make for the second amendment but he never imagined that he personally would be a part of that bargain. He could talk like that because he never even imagined he would be assassinated like those defenseless kids in schools. It's the visual that prevents the right from feeling. There is no way to unsee that video of Charlie Kirk.

Utah Gov. Spencer Cox said officials have Tyler Robinson, the suspect accused of the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk.

On the evening of September 11, a family member of Tyler Robinson reached out to a family friend who contacted the Washington County Sheriff's Office with information that Robinson had confessed to them or implied that he had committed the incident," Cox said during a news conference on Friday.
