The Trump administration has made significant moves to cut the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), slashing its budget cap by nearly half via a new law (reducing it from 12% to 6.5% of the Federal Reserve's budget), initiating mass staff layoffs (aiming to cut ~90% of the workforce), and challenging the agency's funding structure, with some reports indicating an effort to effectively shut it down by early 2026 due to dwindling cash. These cuts aim to reduce waste and increase efficiency, but critics, including consumer advocates and Democrats, argue they hamstring the CFPB's ability to protect consumers from financial scams and predatory practices, potentially benefiting large institutions.

Not to mention that they added medical debt back onto our credit reports.

Trump has done nothing for the people and done all for business. Personally, I like the idea of companies being held responsible for ripping people off.
