Going just to witness it (from the shore of course) is moving up on the ole bucket list. Went to half moon bay the day after the contest when there were still a bunch of people out, and huge surf but you can't really see much.

That is nuts.
Much respect to those who can do it! WSGS - agreed, it is hard to get a good view to watch Mavericks. About a dozen Thanksgivings ago I was out there and the waves were huge. So big that a good number of the Mavricks regulars went to middle peak by Steamer's Lane. I had a great view of of air drop take offs and scrot clenching face rides for a few hours. one of my best surf watching experiences ever. A good sized crowd had gathered and the ooh- and ahhs- and holy craps, and occasional I betcha he xxxxx's this one were fun. ------------------------- If I should ever die, God forbid, let this be my epitaph: THE ONLY PROOF HE NEEDED FOR THE EXISTENCE OF GOD WAS MUSIC - KV |
