^^^ thanks..My only political post, John Tobia has said he will vote to change the zoning laws and allow Air BNB's into our neighborhoods, Sanjay Patel has said he will not sell out our neighborhoods to Airbnb, investors and corporate vacation companies....We need to keep Short Term Rentals out of the South Beaches and Un-incorporated Brevard. We live in a residential neighborhood not a hotel district!...Mods if ya need to move this to NSR it's cool

Good luck guys.... While I dont live in Brevard, I'll give my local take. At first I looked at it as a way for the "common man" to potentially add a revenue stream. It seemed that way at first. ( a few friends have paid off mortgages doing this)..... while I don't see the party thing as much of a problem (actually longterm rentals to college kids ... but I'm not one to cast stones ). The bigger longterm problem IMO, is the dissolution of the local community... St. Augustine was still a cool affordable beachside community. While at first, the rebound of the real estate market seemed very welcome, the reality is that it's artificially inflated... communities are now becoming commercial properties, which in turn, the vibe is slowly changing as younger people are forced off the island due to $$, and general availability of longterm rental properties.

Did you see the article about the AirBnB I believe it's in Indialantic or Sat Bch where it is a five bedroom house that sleeps ten people and is rented out to max capacity to out of towner/partiers that you have described. This house is next door to a terminally ill elderly lady and the owner of the Air BnB won't do a thing about the partying or the trash. I feel for the lady and hope it gets resolved somehow.

Yep, also the case here

I go back and forth on the airbnb in the beachside residential neighborhoods, given that I live in one of the unincorporated areas where it's currently prohibited. I think it should be allowed throughout the County or prohibited throughout the County. On the one hand, I agree with the points made on some of the negatives, which can easily be controlled by responsible owners, accountability, and government oversight. On the other hand, it kills me that houses 200' away from me are legally allowed to do vacation rentals, and even houses in my neighborhood are permitted to airbnb, because no one has complained to the County about them - probably because there has been no reason to complain. Brevard County code enforcement is a certified joke, only responding to non-anonymous complaints, forcing neighbors against neighbors when a code enforcement issue needs to be addressed, creating huge inequities amount residents. I have loads of friends that responsibly administer vacation rentals, and they say their clientele is better and often more respectful than what they get for long term rentals. Generally, those are the owners that also live onsite, or live very close by, allowing them to closely monitor the situation, given that they want the neighborhood to be filled with good people as well. There is nothing worse for a neighborhood than a dirt bag long term tenant situation. At least a dud short termer is gone quickly. I think the fair answer is that it should be allowed (as opposed to this inequitable patchwork of regulations), under a strict and highly regulated permitting system for owners wishing to go that route, with real and painful consequences for owners that rent to problematic renters. A laser focused compliance program could easily be self-funded though annual permitting fees paid by owners engaging in short term rentals. The short term rental successes far outnumber the disasters, which of course get all the press.

There is an Air BNB on my street in Cocoa Beach and I see different people every few days. The landlord must have set a low number, because we've never had an issue with it being the loud party house. My main issue is with the safety of the kids on the street of which we have plenty, somewhere between 12 and 18 - they are pretty hard to count. The people who come in don't know there are children around every corner, so they will speed past the homes while driving in vacation mode; a potential disaster in the making.

I hear there is one out on Country Club - Cocoa Beaches high-end section - and it's reported to be a real nightmare. Imagine sitting in your million dollar retirement home and looking out the window at daily beer pong tournaments and the thump of rap or the twang of country at midnight. Sure, you can tell them to shut it down, but tomorrow brings a new day and a new set of beer pong contestants. No thanks.

There is no stopping this. Letters, petitions neighbors complaining, you can try anything and everything it will not matter in the long run. Just like our infrastructures and water ways that no one gives a shit about. Growth, money and greed will not stop in Brevard County. Shoot isn't that what they want... A mass amount of tourists to flock here, spend their money just to fall in love with how shitty it has become and never leave..

We just elected the guy that's making the big push for this to become the norm.

Nothing like voting against your self interests.

There have been 3 Air BNB's that were successfully shutdown. Your opinion of this DOES MATTER to the Commissioners. A very simple email (cut and paste) "I do not support changing the zoning laws in un-incorporated Brevard County and the South Beaches to allow short term rentals. The existing zoning laws should remain in place. signed, A Concerned Voter" Send 1 email to ALL 5 Commissioners email addresses: D1.commissioner@brevardfl.gov, D2.commissioner@brevardfl.gov, D3.commissioner@brevardfl.gov, D4.commissioner@brevardfl.gov, D5.commissioner@brevardfl.gov.....There is a MEETING NOV 23rd so this needs to be done soon..Very big thanks to ANYONE who can do this simple task and keep our "Town" vibe as it is....Tobia is only 1 of 5 that is a Def YES...We need numerous emails to help shape the vote of the other 4 Commissioners.

^^Yeah it's way different now than 20+ years ago...BW, 1st peak, going to see local bands at Macs 5th Ave, surf video Monday nights at the Hustler, downtown MLB was a dark ghost town; those days I miss...I am trying to slow down the tourist invasion brought on by Short Term Rentals, When they first opened up it drastically changed our neighborhood (Police every weekend, cars parked all over the roads, beach crowds tripled with tourist who trash it and leave, petty thefts, etc.)...Trying to slow down the propulsion from residential areas to vacation/tourist areas. The negatives of Air BNBs outweigh the positives...There are existing zoning laws that they want to change...I am asking everyone just to email and say NO keep the existing zoning laws in place. Should take less than 5 mins to do...Thank you!

As a Landlord this is great, I have less competion for my properties and I can demand highest rent ever BUT we are losing our "community". John Tibia is a Palm Bay Commissioner, so why does he care so much about expanding Air BNB in MelBeach South? Density increases, more Air BNBs, more development of the South Beaches....WHY??? His end game is to build a bridge across Palm Bay (Malabar road) to Coconut Point..Remember his district is Palm Bay...the end game is opening up MelBeach - and the South (Inlet) to Palm Bay via a new bridge that will be built due to the need for Hurricane evac routes.

This house is at the Corner of A1A & Poinsetta correct? I know some friends off Diane Circle that can't stand that place. My Dad lives in that neighborhood as well. Maybe a late night drunken TP session or something!
