I was unable to watch much football on Saturday. Surf/Band stuff. But, here are some reactions to some of the scores. Looks like it was Upset Week!
Coastal Carolina 49 Kansas 22. CC, #17. Got nothing but this jab, if it was basketball it would be a different outcome. Boise State 54 UTEP 13. Boise recovers from UCF loss. But, UTEP, eh. Bama 48 Mercer 14. Roll Tide Georgia 56 UAB 7. Go Dawgs. UAB was suppose to be good this year. Oregon 35 Ohio State 28. What a shocker. I heard the end on sports radio while driving. I was like is this real? In the horseshoe at that? fug the CFP if they put them in the playoff after dropping a home game. Oregon was out 4 or 5 defensive starters. Oklahoma 76 Wester Carolina 0. I take it WCU is no Tulane. The sooners really shouldn't be #4 and really should have lost last week. oh well. Texas A&M 10 Colorado 7. #5 ranked team should score more than that. Colorado any good? Clemson 49 South Carolina State 7. Oh so clemson does have an offense. #6. Cincinnati 42 Murray State 7. #7 Cinci rolls on. Notre Dame 32 Toledo 29. My brother in law who graduated from Toledo text me saying Toledo was up in the 4th. I guess ND found a way to win. Suspect at #8. FSU gave them a run last week but lost to Jax State yesterday. Now Toledo?!? The players need to be executed. . Iowa 27 Iowa State 17. #10 beats #9. Florida 42 USF 20. Dual Qbs. I watched first quarter. Go Gators. #13. USF sux. Stanford 42 USC 28. upset. USC was #14. Arkansas 40 Texas 21. oops. #15 longhorns upset. Welcome to the SEC. BYU 26 Utah 17. Upset. #21 Utah. Miami 25 Appalachian State 23. Canes should not be in top 25. Looks like a close game. Pittsburgh 41 Tennessee 34. Are they calling for Heupel's head yet? Danny White? Pitt goes into Knoxvile and knocks the vols off. UCF 63 Bethune-Cookman 14. good tune up game for Louisville next week. A lot 2nd and 3rd stringers got playing time. UCF has some depth. 2-0. Go Knights. UCF @Louisville 9/17, FRIDAY. ESPN. Jacksonville State 20 FSU 17. I was watching bits and pieces up on the TV while playing drums. I thought FSU won but I couldn't watch it all. What a shocker. Damn. Wha happened? Going to go read some articles or watch highlights. Edited: 09/12/2021 at 07:21 AM by Central Floridave |

Embarrassing for FSU.
Summary of "surprises" in the Top 25: #3 (OSU) lost to #12 #5 (TA&M) barely beat an unranked team #8 (ND) barely beat an unranked team, at home #9 (Iowa State) lost to #10 #14 (USC) got spanked by an unranked team, at home #15 (Texas) got spanked by an unranked team #21 (Utah) lost to an unranked team #22 (Miami) barely beat an unranked team, at home It will be interesting to see if the schools with "tradition" (OSU, ND, USC, Texas) get graded on the "totality of performance for the season" or just get a slap on the wrist. This is where we start watching for who gets pushed up or held up higher in the rankings than they deserve, as a way to preserve their bowl/playoff viability. |

Shouldn't Norvell be on the hot seat? It sure didn't take this much to put Taggert on it (which I'm sure had nothing, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, to do with race). It's great to be a Florida Gator. Well, not great exactly, since Mullen is a pure 8-3/9-2 coach, so, let's just go with "It's better to be a Florida Gator". HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

And, while we're at it, what the heck is ND doing in the rankings? They barely beat a pitiful FSU team and then barely squeak by Toledo. I'm sure that it has nothing, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, to do with religious bias. So, what could it be? And, even though I am a Florida Gator, I am happy as heck to see the SEC lose when they go up against some of the other conferences. It is time for a dose of humility down here.

I'm sure that it has nothing, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, to do with religious bias. Kinda my point in the Week 1 post. ND moved up 2 because 2 teams above them lost, not because they actually proved themselves to be a good team with that squeaker over FS-Shoe. I think the bias has less to do with religion, and more to do with school "tradition" and TV revenues. |

I have been watching App State forever. They are always very good for the little school they are. They are always a dangerous opponent and I watched that game and was amazed. They didn't get beat they beat themselves. They had every opportunity to win and bring it back and a series of stupid mistakes compounded into a game losing drive. That being said, Miami's punter was their MVP.
I still cannot Ohio State. Just wow. I was hoping FSU and their heroic second string Qb could take a cream puff like Jax State but this loss just makes me more suspicious of Norte Dame. As long as I live I will never understand Tennessee. They have talent. Their players play on Sunday once they leave that culture of failure. It's just gone on so long and despite so many changes. I just don't get it. Georgia looking every bit the part. They will cut through the East and it will only get contentious when the East meets the West. Same with Bama. Clemson will own the ACC but that means nothing. They too may have a shot at redemption at the end. Cincinnati getting overdue love and respect. But my SEC bias still itches here. Gators paying the back up as the starter and the starter as the back up. The friction could lead to a healthy competition that brings out the best in both but in the world of jealous mistresses, we may see a winner and loser and then a transfer. Going to the Bama game this weekend. I'm not sure why. ------------------------- "One of the reasons why propaganda tries to get you to hate government is because it's the one existing institution in which people can participate to some extent and constrain tyrannical unaccountable power." Plan B - Yes, it is $$$$$, but what brings the dollars? The root cause - Lots of Irish and lots Roman Catholics (not just Irish; I have several Italian RC friends who bring their love too). That's why we have the NotreDame Broadcasting Corp (aka NBC) and that's why they can have a mediocre season and still be in the mix for the playoffs.

Dear Football Gawds...Please allow UCF to beat Louisville...
UCF Just Missed Being Ranked in the AP Poll The College Football AP Poll was updated yesterday after the week two matchups, and UCF came close to making the top 25. ORLANDO - UCF did receive 111 votes to be ranked, most of all the remaining unranked teams. Although the rankings at this point in the year mean little to nothing, it's still exciting as a fan to see a ranking placed before your team's name, and it's good for the program. Being that the Knights are the first team out and knocking on the door, it begs the question of where the Knights would sit if they're able to knock off the Louisville Cardinals Friday night. My son, the very epitome of naive optimist, has bet me five bucks that Gators beat Bama. I'm a bad man for taking the bet but a good parent for teaching him about making stupid bets.
