Wow! It must be a big deal to close. I worked at the scuzziest restaurant in Melbourne, the South Winds Cafeteria (formerly Trade Winds) in 1972 and we only got a 24 hr closure to make sure we killed all the rats and roaches and made the toilets functional. Yuck.

I was reading up on it at the health dept's website. Lots of past violations, most related to outdated food and improper temperature & storage. Current violation included roaches.
They've been getting hit with enough basic/intermediate violations over the last few years that owners/managers either don't know what they're doing or don't give a shit. Their license was up for renewal on 4/1. Not sure if they were planning on renewing, or just letting it all go to hell and make all the $ they can before closing it up. I had a decent brunch there about a month ago. Sad to see such a longtime institution go down like that. 30 years in Satty? I don't think I'll eat there again unless it's under new ownership as well as management. ![]() |

At the old location I was having brunch and massive Palmetto bug was making his way across the dining room floor, much to the horror of the after-church crowd. We laughed it off since Palmetto bugs just come with the territory in FLA, and as long as he wasn't in my omelet I wasn't worried.

For 3/11, from: https://www.myfloridalicense.c...tID=7885452&id=7371911 Same site says their 3/14 inspection met standards, but their long history of violations is not very inviting to me. |

Facebook says their owner has decided to move on and do something else. Business is for sale. Someone else may buy it and retain the name. I think their liquor license can stay with the business/location.

I complained and they proceeded to kick me out. I've never been back since. |

Bring back the A-Frame, home of the wet beef. It was far more successful than Bunky's.

When I walked into the "Frame" my drink was at the bar waiting for me.

I'm surprised you were a local there. I would have guessed the Golden Dolphin. We moved down to Laurel Ct. (off Cassia which is where the A-frame was) in Feb '72, but I generally drove up to the Golden Dolphin because that's where my old neighborhood crew was. (I lived on SE 3rd for a year and NE 2nd St for 12.) We'd shoot pool and drink pitchers in the Dolphin, but went over to the Rocket for a real drink.

Ya, always went to the Dolphin to see Milt. Great Burgers.
Went into the Rocket for the first time whan I was about 10. For the most part I was one of the only "crew" who was never put on the Rocket's "banned list". ------------------------- Dora Hates You |
