For anyone venturing into the bewildering world of what guitar should I buy.....
Tom Petty sang the songs
this guy was the sound.
He goes through the sounds of an amazing array of incredible instruments.
and explains the differences

My 2ยข. It's crazy how many good, cheap guitars there are out there. All computer cut, laminate body and top, assembled in china or similar for American branding. I saw one at Ollie's on Wickham for $39.95 today. Sheesh. Can't recommend it but there are a ton of decent ones in the $200 range.Anyway, get a small body acoustic so you can sit on the couch in the back room and play. No complications. Just learn a handful of cowboy chords and play what you like. After a year or so, upgrade. But keep your first one for camping trips etc.

Example here. I bought a 3/4 scale a few years ago for a travel guitar. If it gets stolen or whatever, no big $$ lost. I play it often and it sounds fine.https://orangewoodguitars.com/...QwiEAAYASAAEgJtJvD_BwE

There is no substitute for some scrubby little magic acoustic. Any respectable surf shop has at least one.
I like maple guitars. Guild had a 2nd tier model called Madeira.
Some hippie from Martinique had one for 250$
I show up, say hello, buy a beer.
okay,$100.
It has holes in it, has survived some turbulent times
and sounds fucking incredible

Tom would be at Danny's playing Danny's Martins. Tom loved the '37/'38 D18 and D28. The beer was cold and, , , , , when it would 'get to the point', , , , , I rolled another joint.

When Tom told me about being in 'Mudcrutch', , , , , I thought he said 'Mudcrotch'!!!
