Merriam-Webster's Word of the Year 2021!

Get those boosters boys, if you're smart.

It makes no sense to get a vaccine anymore. It doesn't protect you from getting the disease and has some serious side effects. It can reduce the symtoms, but so do the antibody treatments, which don't have the side effects.

Bullshit. IV infusion is way more expensive and risky than the vaccine.

The vaccine is safe and highly effective. Might even protect against omicron variant, we don't know yet. Buy the ticket, take the ride.

Not more risky. Pure BS. So what if it is more expensive? I can afford it. They don't usually give it by IV infusion anymore. Four shots does the trick.

Fine. Let people pay for it themselves and let insurance companies decide what they are willing to cover. And the antibody treatments are more risky than vaccines.

All you do is lie.

Why?

Monoclonal antibody therapy can prevent severe illness, hospitalization and death in high-risk patients who have contracted or been exposed to COVID-19. These treatments are widely available in Florida.

Treatment is free and vaccination status does not matter. If you are 12 years and older and are at high risk for severe illness due to COVID-19, you are eligible for this treatment.
In clinical trials, monoclonal antibody treatment showed a 70% reduction in hospitalization and death.
For high-risk patients who have been exposed to someone with COVID19, Regeneron can give you temporary immunity to decrease your odds of catching the infection by over 80%.

Monoclonal antibody treatments can be prescribed by health care providers to individuals 12 years of age and older who have been diagnosed with COVID-19 and who have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 and are at high risk for severe illness and hospitalization.

However, to support Governor DeSantis' initiative, there is currently a standing order in Florida signed by the State Surgeon General that allows patients to receive this treatment without a prescription or referral if administered by an eligible health care provider. Such referrals are not required at any of the State of Florida monoclonal antibody treatment sites and treatments are available at no cost to patients.

The antibodies help the immune system recognize and respond effectively to the virus. According to the treatment guidelines, they should be administered as soon as possible after diagnosis. By providing access to these treatments at these new sites, Governor DeSantis is alleviating demand on hospital resources and further making sure that Floridians have access to all potential treatments that can help them recover from COVID-19.

The FK'er forgot an important aspect of this...They want to charge your insurance if you have insurance.

From the Florida webpage: https://floridahealthcovid19.g...onal-antibody-therapy/

"There is no cost for monoclonal antibody treatment. No one will be denied services due to inability to pay for administrative cost at State of Florida sites. However, insurance can be billed if available.

No cost to patients does not equal free.
Our Taxes and insurance are paying for this.
I know someone who did this at Kiwanis Island and they charged their insurance for at least some of the cost, they didn't realize their insurance would get a bill.

"Our taxes are paying for it", our govt just signed off on trillions, vax and mono treatments combined are a mere drop in the bucket as our govt seems to have an endless supply of money to spend.

All the silly chumpfscum agitprop nonsense against vaccines, still on the endless search for the "miracle cure" their fat orange carnival barker messiah swore was imminent.
The funniest part is that the same folks who developed the new crispr inspired mRNA vaccines (in fucking record time, folks) are now marketing pills.....yep, pills: that do the same thing duhsantis kerfuffle infusion does......

Deny the FDA approved vaccine for the experimental antibody treatment.

Yep, that sound like a typical Republican response.

There are no long term studies on Regeneron so there is no way of know if there are long term effects or not.

Monoclonal antibodies are man-made proteins that act like human antibodies in the immune system. There are 4 different ways they can be made and are named based on what they are made of.

Murine: These are made from mouse proteins and the names of the treatments end in -omab.
Chimeric: These proteins are a combination of part mouse and part human and the names of the treatments end in -ximab.
Humanized: These are made from small parts of mouse proteins attached to human proteins and the names of the treatments end in -zumab
Human: These are fully human proteins and the names of the treatments end in -umab.
