30 year shingles are more like 20 year in FL with the sun and deluge rains. Our roof was 16 years old with shitty three tab shingles and insurance said "nope" even though they were technically 25 year shingles. We re-roofed with metal a couple of years ago. Lot of people are also using storm events to get a re-roof. They just hang on to the old shingles until a couple get torn off in a storm or a couple of hail stones and then you get the roofing company that specializes in storm roofs to get you a new roof for the cost of a deductible. That hail storm over here back in 2019 cost insurance companies a pile of money. Some roofs were legit hail losses but the roofers crawled the neighborhoods and got lots of people new roofs even in places where the hail wasn't that bad.

30 year shingles sold in Florida have a 30 year MANUFACTURER WARRANTY!

It's legal and binding!

The insurance companies have no legal right to void this warranty.

Who said anything about insurance voiding the warranty? That's not what is happening when insurance says it isn't going to cover an older roof.

You want to make a warranty claim? Then you file with the manufacturer. Good luck with that.

Pay the extra 1k+ premium or get a new roof!

Warranty voided!

That is crazy. Insurance is priced on what they think you will cost them. They say your warranty is crap. Take is up with the manufacturer is you don't like it. I am not going to write you a policy for an old roof because you have a bullshit warranty. This is a market situation. Notice how they want a regulator to force a company to bend to them when it suits them.

Seriously. Warranty is between you and the manufacturer. Your phone insurance company has every right to decide that the warranty is crap and your 20 year old roof is a risk that they want to avoid. Do you not believe in free markets? Property insurance is one place where market distortions really need to be untangled to optimiZe pricing and promote risk aversion. This is especially true in fire, flood, and hurricane zones
