Back in '88 when we built our "new" house, I planted a bed of liriope along the street. (Yeah, I know, liriope sucks, but it was free and...). Anyway, it has been looking somewhat ragged with a lot of dead in it for the past few years. Has anybody tried trimming it back to the ground like I do with my other grasses (eg, muhly, etc.)? If so, how did it turn out? Did it grow back with vigor or did it become a lost cause? How long to grow back? Thanks for the help!

I have no idea. That is a plant you can't kill. So cutting it back probably won't hurt it.

It transplants really easily. So it might work to dig everything up and replant the healthy parts. Liriope isn't a grass and, in my limited experience, seems to like at least a bit of shade.
