what's the plan for Mel Beach and South, have they already done it? Are they planning to go past Aquarina? The sand at the old SBI bar/restaurant is almost gone.

Sand here is already gone from last year. It all currently sits on the reefs, screwing up the ecosystem and our breaks.

Was surfing in NE FL for the holidays and the bottoms were not any better up there. High Tide was preferred

At least they are pulling it in from offshore and it's not the dirt they clog Satellite with.
I'm not sure I understand Cocoa Beach, considering we have dunes and active vegetation growth. ------------------------- I was right. |

We can send Debbie some angry letters, but I don't think it will help.

Don't make it like this sand dump is going to spoil our great current line ups. The bars suck! Just as likely get some positive bottoms out of it . Anyone really think it could be worse ?

We had a two year run of great sandbars after the last go.

It's very rippable out front right now. Haven't surfed there in months and it looks like it may be working again

Dumping sand on the beach kills sea life habitat.
This was SB/IHB reef ecosystem 7 years ago. Someone put up video/photos of the nearshore artificial reef put in place in 2017. Give us a report. link at https://www.journalstandard.com/picture-gallery/news/2017/06/28/photos-installation-of-mid-reach-artificial-reef-begins/103263134/ The plan was to have a place for the marine life to live once the inshore habitat was destroyed.

Heads up Cole and Greensleeves: A summing that they are currently still on schedule ,they should be closing of our Street (and or Streets ) any day now for phase Two . That's just peachy. And the bar just down from us is shaping up nicely. ------------------------- I was right. |

That's the one. A nice run-out is breaking it up, unfortunately, Todd keeps having to pull tourists out of it.

I think they got tired of dealing with citizens on this issue and snuck in 50 year contracts a few years back for beach re-nourishment projects.
Not 100% certain, but I thought I remembered seeing that somewhere a while back. ------------------------- Worst thing I ever read - "No tropical cyclones at this time" |

THEY have been trying to save the Outer Banks of NC for 30+ years. If you've ever been to Hatteras in the 80's, you'd see a vast difference. Back then, there was a several hundred yard walk to the water. THEY had to move the lighthouse to a different location. The bridge from Kill Devil Hills to Pea Island was almost a pier for a while. I surfed with a guy who inspects the pylons, and he said several were free swinging. NC hiway department's action was to close the lane on that side of the bridge.

Hopefully I am wrong. But I see most of this material settling in around the inlet over time... further choking out the wedge.
