China bought $0 worth of soybeans from US farmers this year. Last year, $13B
Trump plans to put US taxpayers on the hook to bailout the people who voted for this, again. Soybean farmers say the planned $10B bailout isn't enough. Soybean bailouts cost taxpayers $40B in his last term. Meanwhile, South America has stepped up to meet China's demand. So, end result of this tariff policy will be China doesn't need US farmers. Not just Argentina, Brazil too. The US is getting isolated. The farmers are getting shut down entirely and even when their soybeans go out, there is still a 25% tariff on them that makes their beans too expensive. The South Americans have more beans growing and more beans being sold right now. This means that China as a market has moved on.
