my debate doesn't weigh heavily around the health aspects of the cooktop. I've compromised myself already with all sorts of chemicals (surf and solder related) during my life. It has been the cost of Amerigas, wife having to clean the thing, and the reliability of our power. Our power reliability still sucks. I have tabled the replacement for now, or until I get sufficient alternative energy for the house that doesn't rely on florida flicker and pop

"The solution to pollution is dilution" kinda failed when we hit the '50s and '60s leading to the introduction of things in the '70s like the EPA, the Clean Water Act, and in this case the Clean Air Act. The solution in this case is better technology to reduce the NOx. Remember the VW diesel scandal? Same stuff. The improved tech is on the shelf, Google infrared gas stove.
