Did some internetting and found that my Crock Pot should/will/does work fine for sous vide if set to "Warm". My pot is currently running on wrm at 135 F and everything seems to be fine. General/nominal ratings for crock pots says that "warm" is about 140 F.
Starting with some cut-up stew grade beef for Beef and Barley soup. Going to sous vide it for 18 hours, and then brown it good in a hot skillet, then back into the crock pot with beef stock, barley, and some veggies. I'll let you know how it comes out. Anybody else doing any sous vide? ------------------------- Dora Hates You |

Did it for 20 hours and it seems to be as tender as a filet.

Yep, it worked out just fine.
Put it all in the Crock Pot on low for 4 1/2 hours and it is yummy. The "stew beef" from Walmart came out just as tender as I was hoping for. ------------------------- Dora Hates You |
