New Dems are probably going to go after Trump's tax returns. But, at this point in time, for what? There is no legal requirement for Trump to release his returns.
>>>. Writing in Yale University's Notice & Comment, Andy Grewal summed up the legal justification that Democrats in the House may use to support their request for Trump's tax documents. "The statutory authority for any congressional requests would probably come from Sections 6103(f)(1) & (2) of the tax code. Under (f)(1), some committees of Congress can request disclosure of Trump's returns and can examine those returns privately. Under (f)(2), a non-partisan career official, the Chief of Staff of the Joint Committee on Taxation (JCT), may also request and privately examine those returns," Grewal wrote. He noted, though, that courts have ruled that a request to see returns must serve a public, not just a political, purpose. <<< ------------------------- Dora Hates You |

Because it is the honest ethical thing to do, and at this point withholding them is super shady.

It will be funny to watch Trump claim no one cares about his tax returns and that his election was a popular mandate to disregard any request from the crooked press or the sore liberal losers.

There is clear public interest in knowing who owns the potus. But he will scream like a little bitch.

If he does a billion a year in private business with the a foreign state, then does nothing when someone from America is murdered and diced by said country, then....

He won't. He will sue, try his case on Fox and claim he's the only one who ever had to do this, which is true if you don't count everyone who volunteered to do it since 1968. ------------------------- "One of the reasons why propaganda tries to get you to hate government is because it's the one existing institution in which people can participate to some extent and constrain tyrannical unaccountable power." He went from: Absolutely in 2014/2015 to hell no in 2016. I don't think he expected to win the election and when he did he had to to a lot of backtracking. For fun you can read his tax return evolution here: https://money.cnn.com/2017/04/...tax-returns/index.html

I'm curious to see the Deutsche Bank/Russian connection and how that is represented. Putin has something on trumpy, and trumpy's admitted love of living for debt and defaulting on loans and not paying people has some pretty deep roots with that bank.

And he pays no taxes. Somehow under capitalism it's cool to be a billionaire and also be losing so much money on paper you shouldn't be taxed like a real worker.

He shouldn't release them. If they are good enough for the IRS then they should be good enough for everyone else. None of you are going to find anything wrongdoing on his taxes that the IRS overlooked.
The left is looking for legal loopholes he may have used to limit his tax burden. Pretty much everyone I know who pays taxes at tax time each year, instead of receiving a check, looks for legal ways to limit their tax burden. ------------------------- "The government who robs Peter to pay Paul can always depend on the support of Paul," - George Bernard Shaw “Don’t underestimate Joe’s ability to f—k things up.” - Barack Obama “End of quote. And he pays no taxes. Somehow under capitalism it's cool to be a billionaire and also be losing so much money on paper you shouldn't be taxed like a real worker. Exactly. If I incur $200 thousand in hospital bills and can't pay, I will end up in a tiny apartment or homeless. Trump, on the other hand, can make terrible business decisions, lose countless millions, yet still keep living in his gold house and pay zero taxes for decades. ------------------------- I was right. |

"He shouldn't release them."
He can release them or break another law by refusing to follow the court's order. And he should've released them, like every president before him, in recent history. He is our employee, and owes us full disclosure to prove he doesn't have financial conflicts of interest. It's obvious he does though, and that's why he's fighting and lying. |

That's interesting that sniper thinks the IRS is capable of doing more than determining if his income is correctly taxed. They will not question his shell corporation's ownership or cash infusions as long as it's reported. The reporting might be copacetic but the sources remain deliberately murky. That's why that argument that if it's good enough for the IRS, it is good enough for us doesn't work. Also, since when did the conservatives endorse the IRS as government organization that they trust enough to do anything? Much less trump's shell game?

He said he would release them. Why hide them now that there is a valid subpoena?

If there's no "there there" why is he schitting his pants about it? If it was good for him, Faux would spew it across the air waves every second of every day.

The story was he wanted to release them to show everyone how smart he was to not pay taxes, but some of his cronies told him that wouldn't look too good to Joe Sixpack.
Then I think there's a point were he just becomes an obstinate child and digs his heals in. He has to "win", it's all he's got. ------------------------- “It is the heart of US policy to use fascism to preserve capitalism while claiming to be saving democracy from communism “ - Michael Parenti |

Also, since when did the conservatives endorse the IRS as government organization that they trust enough to do anything? Much less trump's shell game? Okay, then. The Ways & Means committee already has access to all this. Let them investigate it on their own and report any wrongdoing they may see. That's not what Democrats want. They want to find something that they can use to confuse dumbasses on their own side. They want Republicans to have to waste their time defending themselves over things that are a complete waste of time. ------------------------- "The government who robs Peter to pay Paul can always depend on the support of Paul," - George Bernard Shaw “Don’t underestimate Joe’s ability to f—k things up.” - Barack Obama “End of quote.
